National Weather Service Update
A significant surge of Arctic air is headed out way for the weekend. As it moves into the region tonight and Friday, look for light snow to spread as far east as the Blue Ridge possibly bringing an inch or so of snow that far east.
More significant snow will occur with westerly upslope flow across the mountains of eastern WV, far southwestern VA, and northwestern NC late Friday through Saturday, where several inches of snow are possible. Some of these areas still have 5+ inches yet on the ground from the last snow storm.
Bitterly cold temperatures and wind chills are expected throughout the weekend and pretty much the entire area will remain below freezing throughout the weekend. This cold surge will be equally as bad if not a bit more significant than the one earlier this week. So be prepared.
Tired of the cold and snow? Warmer temperatures are on the way for next week! We will save that story for later. Got to get through the weekend first!
