NAACP Events for May

The May General Body meeting of the Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County branch of the NAACP will be held Sunday, May 19th at 3:30pm in the Warm Hearth Village Center at 2387 Warm Hearth Drive in Blacksburg. (Please note: we are meeting on the 3rd Sunday of this month to avoid conflict with Memorial Day weekend.) Our CREDO speaker is Ryan Bell, founder of Black Father Family to discuss and share his Fathers Bail Out Initiative. This initiative is statewide. All are welcome!

-Community discussion: Equal Rights, Equal Protections – a panel discussion on the ratifying the ERA in Virginia, strengthening the Violence Against Women Act and Equal Pay and what it means to SWVA

Panelists: Ashley Reynolds, executive director with the YWCA of Central Virginia; Penny Franklin, president IUE-CWA Local 82160; Laurie Buchwald, Elect Women and Virginia’s List; representative from VA Ratify ERA; Ariel Hill-Davis, Republican Women for Progress (she will be Skyping in as she’s in DC); Delegate Hurst has been invited to be part of the panel. (an invitation to both participate and/or be in attendance has been sent to Delegate Rush, McNamara and Senator Edwards)
