Mountains of Music Homecoming this week

Make plans to follow the music for the fourth annual Mountains of Music Homecoming along the Crooked Road. Concerts celebrating old-time, bluegrass, gospel, traditional singing and dance, and many other styles will be presented in over 40 different communities where this musical heritage lives and breathes. Here are just some of the events in Montgomery County:

June 13: Market Square Jam with host band The Indian Run String Band, Blacksburg Market Square Park, 8-10 p.m. Free and open to the public.

June 14: Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver concert, 7 p.m. at The Great Road on Main, 100 W. Main St. in downtown Christiansburg. Tickets are available online at mtnsofmusic.com or at the Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Arts Center in Christiansburg.

June 15: Gospel, Old Time, and Soul Food: African American Experiences 10 a.m. – 5 pm. at Solitude, Virginia Tech, 705 W. Campus Dr. Blacksburg. Free and open to the public.

June 15: Boom, Blues, and BBQ: Flag Day Celebration, Noon – 7 p.m. at Historic Smithfield, Blacksburg. Call 540-231-3947 for tickets.

June 15: The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming: Sierra Hull, 7:30 p.m. at The Moss Arts Center in Blacksburg. Tickets may be purchased online or at the Box Office.

June 16: Concert on the Lawn Featuring Piedmont Bluz, 7-8:30 p.m. at Christiansburg Library. Free and open to the public. Christiansburg Library.
