Moderate to heavy rain along and east of the Blue Ridge
A band of moderate rain with embedded heavier showers will continue to track northeast across the region over the next couple of hours. Added rainfall of around an inch could occur especially near the Blue Ridge through 11 PM. Locally heavy downpours could also result in ponding of water along area roadways along with possible poor drainage flooding. Motorists should be alert for poor visibility within the heavier rain and fog including areas of ponding water on the road overnight.
Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected. The potential for over 2 inches of rain exists across the watch area. The heaviest rainfall is expected tonight through Sunday. Excessive rainfall, combined with an already saturated ground, may lead to flooding along streams, creeks, rivers and in low lying areas.
