Melvin, Linda Trenar 4Linda Lou Trenar Melvin, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in Pearisburg, VA, after a courageous battle with heart failure She was born February 11, 1951 in Pearisburg, VA, the daughter of the late Ralph & Virginia Trenar.

Linda was a loving and caring person who touched the lives of many. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Linda was a dedicated employee at Power Zone in Christiansburg, VA, and The Imagination Station in Pearisburg, VA. She was known for her warm and welcoming personality, always making sure everyone felt love, included and well fed. She enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke.

Linda had a passion for sewing, cooking for everyone, yard sales, growing beautiful flowers and watching her grandchildren play. She spent many years working in the infant room at a daycare, where she nurtured and cared for countless children. She enjoyed caring for the little ones in the nursery as if they were her own.

Linda was a kind and patient person and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She loved celebrating every holiday, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laughter and her genuine love for others.

Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband, William (“Bill”) Monroe Melvin, her parents, Ralph Edison, Sr. & Virginia Hetherington Trenar, her brothers, William (“Billy”) Trenar and Tommy Trenar, and her sisters, Nancy Matuszczyk and Barbara Farewell.

Left to cherish her memory, she will be deeply missed by her daughter & son-in-law, Saprina & Duke Lucas; her son, Steven Melvin; her grandchildren, Dustin & Sara McVey, Dylan & Kirstin McVey and Brittany & Ethan Howell; her great-grandchildren, Emma Howell, Owen McVey, Kairi McVey, Adalynn Howell, Avery McVey and Alena Howell; her brother & sisters-in-law , Richard & Norma Trenar and Mary Trenar; her sisters & brothers-in-law, Drema & Charlie Simmons and Carol Robertson & Taz Tickle; her very special friend, Patricia (“Pat”) Blankenship; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbors.

A celebration of Linda’s life service will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. at Angels Rest Baptist Fellowship church with Pastor Craig Whittaker officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 P.M until service time, 4:00 P.M.

Graveside committal service will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at Birchlawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Linda’s honor to a charity of your choice.

Linda will be remembered for her kind heart, selfless nature and unwavering love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
