Bennie Harold Meadows, age 78, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born April 21, 1947, in Richlands, VA, he was the son of the late King Andrew Birt Meadows and Clara Margaret Osborne Meadows.
Bennie was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Lindside, WV. Serving the Lord was his greatest enjoyment over the years. He served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, bus ministry, weekly visitation, and choir member where he played harmonica. He read his Bible daily and read it over 50 times in his life. In his later years, he read it through two or three times a year.
Bennie was a U.S. Army Veteran and served from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1968. Later, he worked for General Telephone and retired from Citizens Communications in Princeton, WV, where he served as a lineman and cable splicer.
Bennie loved West Virginia, as he and Nola traveled to all 55 counties. After retirement they enjoyed Bus Tours, where they traveled to Niagara Falls, the Hoover Dam, Maine, and many other places. Additionally, he collected old John Deere Tractors and many various antiques. He also made over 50 walking canes and gave most of them away. He especially loved explaining his George Washington cane that he made to everyone.
Bennie loved the outdoors and enjoyed sitting in his swing in the yard watching all the wildlife and riding around on back country roads. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Andrew Altizer; and siblings, Jack Meadows, Elva Blakemore, Alta Browning, and David Meadows.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Nola Humphreys Meadows; son, Tim Meadows (Jamie); daughter, Teresa Coleman (Ray); siblings, Mack Meadows (Faye), and Mary Ethel Brenneman; four grandsons; one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
