Blacksburg United Methodist Church presented a check for $3000 to the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP). Pictured (left to right): BUMC SERVE Coordinator Dick Arnold, MCEAP Manager Margie Vitale, and BUMC SERVE Team Member Merv Timberlake.
The MCEAP’s mission is to assist Montgomery County residents in maintaining their households and restoring their self-sufficiency, achieved by serving the immediate, emergency, and temporary needs of low-income, unemployed, elderly or handicapped individuals and families. Dick says, “We know that every penny donated will go to help our community with food, clothing, household items, and/or financial assistance. Our SERVE team is excited to learn that the MCEAP program will now be delivering meals weekly to seniors. Meals are prepared, packaged, and delivered by MCEAP volunteers.”
