McDaniel, Roy Lee

Roy Lee McDaniel, age 79, of Ballard, WV, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV, with his wife by his side. He was born on October 30, 1942, to the late Causie L. and Zola Jones McDaniel, on the family farm, and remained there until his death.

Roy loved maintaining the farm, caring for his cattle and garden, and enjoying nature and the outdoors. Faith, Family, and Farming was what he cherished. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for several years. Roy retired from Celanese Corporation in 2004 after 37 years of service. He loved the Lord and his church family where he was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Red Sulphur Springs.

Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Shrewsbury McDaniel; one daughter, Debra Lynn McDaniel of Peterstown, WV; one son, David Lee McDaniel of WV; two grandchildren, Dustin McDaniel of Princeton, WV, and Ella McDaniel of Hinton, WV; two sisters, Norma Young of Forest Hill, WV, and Carol Butler and husband Johnnie of Greenville, WV. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he loved very much.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday June 20, 2022, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Derrick Leslie officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Red Sulphur Springs, WV. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Johnnie Butler, Darrell Allison, Barry Bales, Kenneth Shrewsbury, Randy Hodges, and Paul Wilson will serve as pallbearers.
