McCraw, Anna Spangler

Anna Jean Spangler McCraw, age 80, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born December 6, 1943, in Ballard, WV, she was the daughter of the late Gaston Spangler Jr. and Trusbie Canterbury Spangler.

Anna Jean was a member of the Ballard First Missionary Baptist Church. She worked in housekeeping for Princeton Healthcare.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas McCraw; her sister, Agnes Ann Caldwell; her brother, Donald G. Spangler; special nieces, Donna Hedrick and Rusty, and Donna Jean Shaver; and her aunt, Mildred Spangler.

Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Charles M. “Shorty” Spangler of Ballard, WV; three brothers, Captain Ralph G. Spangler, Retired U.S. Navy, and wife Jewel of Peterstown, WV, Benny R. Spangler of Fairlea, WV, and Jerry Spangler and wife Angela of Peterstown, WV; three sisters, Evelyn Dunn and husband Carl of Ballard, WV, Eleanor Miller and husband Richard of Ballard, WV, Brenda Mann and husband Bobby of Greenville, WV; special cousins, Jane Lester and Sue Pelts; special friends, Patty Jones and Mae Saunders; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Red Sulphur Springs Community Church Cemetery in Red Sulphur Springs, WV. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
