Martin, Shirley Collins

Shirley Collins Martin, 88, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on February 27th, 1936 to Frank and Florence Collins.

Shirley was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She enjoyed spending time on the mountain with her loved ones, her flowers, gardening, and bird watching. Professionally, Shirley worked at Mountain Lake Hotel for 31 years.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Billy Eugene Martin; as well as her son, Roy Dale Martin; and great-grandson Thatcher Savage. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Collins, Robert Collins, Mary Roop, and Reba Cromer.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Larry Martin (Laurleen); daughters, Priscilla Soucek (Dale), Betty Linkous (David), Brenda Martin, Sandy Fisher (Ricky); grandchildren, Randy Soucek (Brittany), Johnny Soucek (Danielle), Travis Savage (Breanna), Amanda Savage, Danny Savage, Nikki Whitlock (Robbie), Brooke Linkous, Morgan Durham (Luke), Maggie Fisher (Layton); great-grandchildren, Melanie James Soucek, Marty and Elise Soucek, Caleb Lindsey, Ava Dickerson, Silas and Marren Savage, McKenna Savage, Landen Perkins, Kasey Davis, Samuel Savage, and Adalynne and Riley Whitlock; brother-in-law Tommy Cromer; special niece, Debbie Harvey; special friend, Linda Fisher; as well as many special friends, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends in a time of visitation on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Beverly Meredith officiating.
