Manning, Teretha Mae

Teretha Mae “Wessie” Manning, 71 formerly of Blacksburg departed this life October 10, 2023 in the care of Highland Ridge Nursing Home in Dublin, VA. Born on January 6, 1952 she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Irene Lucas Manning.

Teretha worked for many years in service striving to care and teach her community as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Carilion Clinic Home Health. Later, she would continue to work in her family business at Deer Country Restaurant in Big Stoney Creek. Teretha found great joy in site seeing and enjoying the creation that surrounded her. In addition, she enjoyed a good show she would find on TV. Finally, her great love was found in the joy of loving her cat and dog.

In addition to her parents, Teretha is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Goodwin; and brother, Alfred “Jimmy” Manning.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Brenda Sessor (JB) of Goldbond; nephew, CJ; and cousins, Lacy Snider, and Sandy Blevins.

There will be a graveside service conducted on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Manning/Lucas Cemetery on Big Stoney Creek Road with Pastor Gary Poff officiating.
