Lucas, Mary Martin
Mary Alice Martin “Lucas” of Pearisburg, VA went to be in the peaceful, loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on June 10, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Martin Hungate. She was a gentle and loving woman, with a spunky soul.
She gave her family a true loving devotion. She mothered her children, as well as anyone else’s her entire life. A woman of Christ and a true living testament of faith, she attended Ingram Village Church for many years. She was a caregiver of the elderly and a true nurturer to anyone and everyone she met. She was a light to the goodness of humanity, and left that legacy on to her family. She enjoyed quilting, birdwatching, and going to every yard sale she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lucas; her mother, Elizabeth Martin Hungate; step-father, David Hungate; son, Ricky Lucas; daughters-in-law, Pam and Anita Lucas; great-grandson, Kyron Lewis; and sister, Patsy Martin.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ed Lucas, Paul Lucas (Missy), Shane Lucas (Dreama), Stacy Lucas (Christy), and Chris Lucas (Leslie); sisters, Frankie Whittaker, Sally Stafford (Jim); brothers, Doug Williams (Gail), and Donnie Williams (Tom); grandchildren, Ashley Lucas (David) with whom she resided, Shanna Lucas (Noah), Richard Lucas (Kerston), TJ Lucas (Sammi), Josh Lucas (Amber), Eddie Lucas, Phillip Lucas (Kelsey), Quenton Lucas, Amber Lucas, Carrie Davis (Matt), and Curtis Boone; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Landin, Elizabeth, Riley, Ethan, Kenzie, Kayden, Gage, Emily, Kaitlyn, Trinity, Kendrick, AJ, Ariana, Bella, Jazzlyn, Adilynn, and Abigail; a special aunt, Dolly Miller; and a host of additional family members, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park where she will be laid to rest.
