Loveday, Curtis Joe
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Curtis Joe Loveday, known to his family and friends as “Joe”, born December 12, 1948, and entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Margie Pearl and George Washington Loveday; wife, Jackie Loveday; brother-in-law; nephew; and many friends and family who have gone before him.
Left to cherish his memory are his granddaughter, Rachel Davis of Giles; son, Adam Loveday of Christiansburg; sister, Peggy Lester of Radford; brother, Wayne Loveday; close friends, Steve and Myra of Riner, and Jimmy and Susan Davis of Blacksburg; nieces and nephews; and many neighbors and friends.
Joe was a gentle giant, a friend to anybody and everybody. He would give the shirt off his back to a complete stranger. He loved big and worked hard for his family and friends. He was always a phone call away.
Joe was a member of the United States Army for 2.5 years. After getting out of the service, he worked at the Radford Arsenal, where he retired. After retirement, he proudly became “Mr. Fix It: to the Riner Community that he loved so much! He spent his retired days at home with his wife and dogs (7 at the time), helping his neighbors, family, and friends doing anything and everything that was asked of him. He worked many hours out in his workshop fixing engines and random farm equipment as well as time in his wood shop where he would spend many hours building beautiful yet very random wood art from a little shelf to big and beautiful furniture, just because it was a random Tuesday and he had the wood.
Joe’s presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but we know “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”: and we have great peace knowing he is with his Savior, reunited with family and friends.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 11 – 11:30 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Ward Harris officiating. My deepest sympathy to the family. I went to high school with Joe and have always considered him as one of my favorite people. Sure will miss him ! I have not seen him in a while, but think of him often. Many good memories of Joe from the past. He is certainly a big loss to Riner. Prayers to his family. GOD bless.
