Long, Maurice Lee

Maurice “Duke” Lee Long, 84, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, in the Good Sam Hospice House in Roanoke. He was a retired postal rural carrier and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Duke owned Long’s Auto service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nettie Long; brother, Cloyd H. Long; and sister, Mackie Waltz.

Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Shelburne Long; step sons, Tim Saunders (Cindy) and Todd Saunders (Rhonda); step grandchildren, Brandon Saunders (Audrey), Bailey Saunders (Jessi), and Beth Saunders; 5 step great grandchildren; sisters, Colleen Oakley and Doris Werner; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.

The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Roanoke for the love and care that they provided during Duke’s stay there.
