Lilly, Carol Ogle
Carol Ogle Lilly, age 81, of Narrows, VA, and Sun City Center, FL, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at her home in Florida. Born June 4, 1942, in Peterstown, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Bernice Thomas Ogle.
Carol graduated from Peterstown High School and National Business College. She worked at the Celco Credit Union in Narrows, and later worked as secretary and bookkeeper for the Giles County Public School System until her retirement in 2002. She was a member of the Narrows First United Methodist Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Whether playing Rook, Mahjong, or Chicken Foot, she took every opportunity to practice her skills and spend time with family and friends. She will also be remembered for her late-night shenanigans, whether it be a golf cart ride to catch a Florida sunset or a midnight phone call to any other Ogle who was definitely still awake. In her many ways, she knew how to show love to all people at every hour of the day.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mason Lilly; sisters, Gail Robinson, Pam Turner, and Beverly Harvey; brother, Gene Ogle; and brothers-in-law, Ronald Worrell and Dan Vernon.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Robert Mason “Bobby” Lilly Jr. and wife Tia of Narrows, VA; daughter, Terri Lilly Lowe and husband Patton of Clemmons, NC; three granddaughters, Madison Lilly, Natalie Lowe, and Caroline Lowe; two sisters, Glenda Worrell and Marguerite Good and husband Billy; two brothers, Joe Ogle and Tom Ogle; sisters-in-law, Kathy Ogle, Linda Vernon, and Dreama Settle and husband Cleve; brothers-in-law, Dick Robinson and wife Ro, and Roger Turner; and her huge extended family who will always remember her joyful chuckles and laughter, her reassuring smile, and her deviled eggs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Dr. John Sauvage and Rev. Doug Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, VA.
Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Carol’s name to Cancer Kids and Christmas (1815 Old Wolf Creek Road, Narrows, VA 24124), your local church, or take a friend out to dinner.
