Light, Wendell Alden

Wendell Alden Light, 85, passed away January 11, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Mildred Light, a brother, Ronald Light and his daughter, Amanda Haynes.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Dianne Light and a son Brian Light (Teresa), four grandchildren, Zach Light, Brittany Light, Kendall Haynes, and Keaton Haynes, a sister Doris Correll, two brothers, Melvin Light (Shirley) and Donald Light.

Wendell was employed at RAAP for 30 years, then worked for Montgomery County Public Schools for seven years. He was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Riner.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11am at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd, conducted by Neil Wood and Joel Cox. Interment will be at Iddings Cemetery, Terry’s Fork, Virginia. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.
