Kast, Wanda Cordell
Wanda Jo Cordell Kast, a beacon of unwavering faith and a foundation of love for her extensive family, formerly of Giles County, Virginia departed this life to enter the streets of her Heavenly Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 28, 2024, in Copper Hill, Virginia.
Born on November 23, 1944, in the scenic landscapes of Tennessee, Wanda’s journey through life was marked by devotion, kindness, and an enduring strength that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lester Cordell and Evelyn Shouse Cordell, her dear husband, Richard Kast Sr., and her sister, Juanita Land, Wanda’s legacy is carried forward by her adoring family. She was the cherished mother of sons Richard Kast Jr. (Jodie), Joseph Kast, Mark Kast (Marie), Eric Kast (Michelle), and daughters MaDonna Overstreet (Rick), and Anita Weber (Gary). Her love knew no bounds, extending to her 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and the many grandchildren she adopted as her own. Wanda also leaves behind her very special friend, Barbara McCoy, and her constant furry companion, Mr. Pickles.
Wanda’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, having been a dedicated Christian for over 51 years. Her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life, from her role as a loving mother to her involvement in church and community activities. A true prayer warrior, she found solace and strength in singing Christian hymns with her family and serving the Lord with all her heart.
Her interests were a reflection of her love for the simple pleasures in life. Wanda found joy in word search puzzles, adult coloring books, and especially in spending quality time with her family. She was an avid reader of her Bible and devotions, drawing inspiration and guidance from the scriptures. Yard sales were a particular delight for her, as she cherished the opportunity to find treasures and share stories with her neighbors.
Those who knew Wanda will remember her for the song that resonated with her spirit, “He’s Still God on the Mountain.” This hymn encapsulated her unwavering belief that, no matter the circumstances, her faith would remain steadfast. Her love for family time was unparalleled, as she would gather her loved ones and envelop them in the warmth of her presence.
Wanda’s faith-filled life was a source of inspiration to all who knew her. She approached every challenge with grace and perseverance, teaching her family the value of trust in God’s plan. Her passion for living a life anchored in her beliefs was evident to all, and her legacy will continue to flourish through the lives of those she touched.
