June 20: Bike Safety & Recycling

Bring the whole family to the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market on Thursday, June 20, to learn about bike safety. The Christiansburg Police Department, NRV Bike Kitchen and the New River Health District will be hosting the annual Bike Rodeo, complete with a bike course from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Your kids can learn bike safety tips, interact with Christiansburg Police officers and have a chance to receive a free helmet, backpack or water bottle. Please bring your children’s bikes and helmets and make sure they wear closed toe shoes for this fun event! There will also be a moon bounce on Hickok Street and face painting by Katy Shepard.

Also at the market on June 20, the Town of Christiansburg’s Public Works Department will have a children’s activity regarding recycling, with the opportunity to win prizes. The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is offering chalk art; Wonder Universe: A Children’s Museum will be on-site with activities; and Montgomery Museum of Art & History is providing a pop-up exhibit. Wine tastings will be available with Iron Heart Winery.

The Christiansburg Farmers’ Market is open from 3-7 p.m. every Thursday through October. Follow our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ChristiansburgFarmersMarket/ for more details about each market, including a list of attending vendors.
