Jones, Esther EavesEsther Gertrude “Queen” Eaves Jones born March 11, 1920 and passed May 3, 2024. Esther was preceded in death by her parents Aiex Eaves and Millie Eaves, her husband Howard H Jone:, brother Glenwood Eaves, daughter Jean Eaves and granddaughter Dameta Jones.

She is survived by her son H. Arnold Jones, grand daughters, Tracie Edmond, Sidra Jones, Trista jones, and Tia Smith. Great-grandchildren Shalin, Shannon, Joshua, Malik, Marquis, Micah, Antonio, Nakia, and Raeshon.

Great-great-grandchildren Benjamin, Ezra, Zaydhen and Alahni, Son-In-Law Howard Eaves Jr. and a host of niece, nephews, other family relatives and friends.

Esther graduated from Christiansburg Institute, class of 1939 and was a member of the Alumni Association and one of its oldest living members.

After 20 + years of service she retired from Virginia Tech. Along with her husband Howard H Jones she helped run a Coal Mine as the secretary.

Esther “Queen” was a founding member of the Wake Forest Community Action Where she acted as treasurer for many years, there is a sign dedicated in her honor recognizing her commitment to her community located at the entrance of Wake Forest Road.

Sister Jones served as the Mother of the West Virginia District United Holiness Church, as well as mother of the Wake Forest Holiness Church, Wake Forest, Va., where the dining hall is named in her honor.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday May 11, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery. A visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 before the service.
