January NAACP Events

The Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County NAACP branch’s annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration will be held Sunday, January 14th at 3pm at Asbury United Methodist Church, 500 Stuart St in Christiansburg. The speaker will be Joe Scheffey, who retired from the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors after 7 terms. All are welcome.

The January General Body meeting of the Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County NAACP will take place Sunday, January 28th, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 500 Stuart St in Christiansburg. The business portion of the meeting will be 3:30-4:30pm, and then the CREDO speaker will be the new President of the Virginia State NAACP, Rev. Kevin Chandler. The speaker will begin at 4:30pm, and there will be a meet-and-greet afterward. All are welcome.

While this is not an NAACP event, Asbury UMC will be holding community conversations over the next several weeks on issues of local concern–at-risk children, food insecurity, and prison recidivism. The conversations will begin with a free dinner, and will include expert input as well as group participation. A flyer with details is attached. All are welcome. (The events previously advertised in December had to be cancelled.)
