Holmes, Josephine Halstead

Josephine (Jo) Halstead Holmes, age 82, of Blacksburg, passed away, Monday, October 14, 2024, at her home. She was born in West Virginia on October 13, 1942, to the late Leroy Burton and Violet Hensley Halstead. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton James Holmes; one brother, Lewis; three sisters, Priscilla, Macie Ann, and Mary.

She enjoyed gardening, raising her sons, and was a devoted Navy wife. Jo was a woman of the Lord. Her favorite thing to do was to watch the Hallmark show and read her bible.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton (Chris) of Fluvanna County, VA, Leroy (Kim) of Blacksburg, Harry (Margaret) of Blacksburg, James (Rhonda) of Blacksburg; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Joyce Wilson.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Holmes Family Cemetery with Pastor Brent Strouf officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4-6:00 PM at McCoy Funeral Home.
