Hensdill, Rena Kalat

Rena Adelaide Hensdill, age 82 of Christiansburg, VA passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Juanita Kalat; daughter, Deanna Lynn Franklin; brother, Roy Kalat; and sister, Aleatha Strong.

She is survived by her son, Darryl Hensdill; daughters, Jamie (Junior) Sayers, and Denise (John) Colantoni; grandchildren, Seth (Jennifer) Sayers, Marcus (Jennifer) Sayers, Cody (April) Sayers, Samantha (Stosh) Fry, Nick (Hanna) Colantoni, Andrew Colantoni, and Lucas Colantoni; 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, David Kalat, and Max Kalat; and special neighbor and friend, John Lance.

Rena had a passion for being outdoors and enjoyed nature and wildlife. She loved car rides out in the country searching for deer, horses and all wildlife. She had an extraordinary green thumb watching plants grow and thrive.

She had a loving and compassionate heart for people – especially her children and grandchildren. She was courageous in expressing herself and determined to win at everything – especially playing bingo. She loved watching her daily game shows without interruption and could have a conversation about any book, movie or actor.

Rena instilled in her children a foundation of faith in Jesus early in their lives and today they still lean on that faith. She loved with her whole heat and is so loved and will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank Pulaski Health and Rehab Center; special PTs, Daniel, Doug and Ellen; Wal-Mart Pharmacist, Jason and team, Many Physicians; and special friend, Nancy.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20 from 11 to 12 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brandon Crosier officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
