Harvey, Roy Maynard

Roy Maynard (Ned) Harvey, 91, of Peterstown, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, after a short illness. Born May 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Ray and Ocie Harvey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Raymond, his wife, Lois, his brother, Melvin and an infant daughter, Lisa Renee.

Ned graduated from Peterstown High School in 1951. After high school he served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for over a decade. He then opened and operated his own cabinetry business for many years building, remodeling and installing custom cabinetry in homes. He finished out his working years as a product salesman at Mountain Country Enterprises in Peterstown from which he retired in 1994.

He was a member of the Montcalm Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, gardening, woodworking, dancing with his wife and spending time with family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sheri J. Harvey of Peterstown; a son R. Kevin Harvey and wife Holly of Greenville, WV; a grandson Justin Harvey and wife Morgan of Salem, VA and their two daughters Lana and Lennon; a granddaughter, Ashton Ribeiro and husband Josh of Roanoke, VA and their newborn son Vasco; a sister, Letha Spangler of Charlotte, NC and a brother Darrell Harvey, of Peterstown, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Elder Joe Miller officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV.
