Griffith Statement on Supreme Court Decision
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) released a statement following the Supreme Court’s decision to disallow race-based affirmative action in higher education:
“At first blush, this appears to be a well-reasoned opinion by the Court. Colleges and Universities will no longer be allowed to consider race as a factor when determining admission of an applicant, as the Court has determined that it violates the 14thAmendment’s Equal Protection Clause.
“This opinion harkens back to Martin Luther King, Jr’s famous speech in which he stated: ‘I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.’”

Keith.. Are you disparaging Kings, ground breaking speech?
How is ignoring a child’s good grades, blocking Asian kids, and admitting kids based on a certain skin color “fair”? Is that honestly a country you want to live in?
When you hire based on skin color instead of competency… you end up with hires like:
Karine Jean-Pierre – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karine_Jean-Pierre
Kamala Harris – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamala_Harris
Both are almost embarrassing to the office of the presidency as Joe himself.
The whole administration is a train wreck.
Both of them are “Infamous” equty hires.. Rolling the dice though, once in a while, you’ll get lucky, as we did with Obama, a great man and orator (though I don’t agree with his politics).
Would you want a medical surgeon working on you to be an “equity hire”?
“Well.. I didn’t do that well on my degree.. or my residency.. but hey.. that’s why they call it a “practice, right?”
Or how about your airline pilot during bad weather?
Or even your mechanic troubleshooting an ongoing issue?
Or your Asian child with top grades, being denied entry to college to free up an equity spot?!?
Think about it. Is that really the direction we want to take this nation?
King’s speech and “judged on the content of their character” is the gold standard we should all strive to live up to.. as well as our Declaration of Independence, “All men are created EQUAL.”.
Provide equal opportunities.. and our best will rise to the challenges.
Force equity hiring and admission.. and you’re rolling the dice, while promoting racism AND decreasing the drive for greatness.

‘Infamous’ speech by Martin Luther King. Another accidental dog whistle to the 34% of the population or 100% of the people that vote for Griffith. https://news.gallup.com/poll/352544/larger-majority-says-racism-against-black-people-widespread.aspx
