Griffith Statement on EcoHealth Alliance
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has suspended and proposed to debar EcoHealth Alliance on the grounds that it lacks the present responsibility to participate in U.S. Federal Government procurement and nonprocurement programs. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“EcoHealth Alliance failed to follow its contractual obligations as it funded coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). EcoHealth has exhibited a lack of transparency and responsibility.
“Dr. Peter Daszak, President of EcoHealth Alliance, has been misleading at best in some of his answers to Congress as well.
“I agree with this decision by HHS to suspend EcoHealth Alliance from participating in federal procurement and nonprocurement programs.”

This is a start in understanding the utter debacle created by EcoHealth by financially supporting Gain of Function research at the Wuhan Institute in China. The next step should expose those who provided the funding to EcoHealth. A moratorium to halt GOF work was enacted in the US because of the risks involved. The funding through EcoHealth enabled the Chinese to continue this work unabated. It involved the transfer of technology from UNC to Chinese researchers at WIV to create enhanced viruses. The enhanced virus escaped the Wuhan lab and the Covid-19 pandemic ensued. Kudos to Rep Griffith and his committee for this development. I hope it doesn’t end here.
