GO TEC launches at Christiansburg Middle School

GO TEC launches at Christiansburg Middle School 2Great Opportunities in Technology and Engineering Careers (GO TEC) has officially launched in the New River Valley with the recent ribbon cutting at Christiansburg Middle School, marking the expansion of the program into GO Virginia Region 2. With the help of a $1 million grant, this initiative will extend across five more school districts, including Giles County, Pulaski County, the City of Radford, and Roanoke County, bringing hands-on, career-connected learning to students throughout the region.

Through the launch at Christiansburg Middle School, students now have access to a Career Connections lab, a dedicated space where learning moves beyond textbooks and into real-world application. These labs connect students directly to regional industries through immersive, hands-on experiences and early career exploration, helping them understand not just what jobs exist, but how their interests and skills can align with future opportunities.

By introducing students to technical careers earlier, GO TEC helps ensure that Virginia’s New River Valley continues to grow its workforce from within, preparing students for advanced training, certifications, and careers that allow them to live and work in the region long term.
