Giles County Broadband Groundbreaking

Giles County Broadband Groundbreaking 2Giles County has officially broken ground on a broadband project that was announced last year. The project secured a $4.2 million grant through the Virginia Telecommunications Initiative (VATI), administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and is in partnership with Pembroke Telephone Cooperative.

The event was held at the White Gate Community Center and signaled the beginning of construction on the new fiber to the home network in the county. Once completed, the project will provide high-speed internet to more than 600 homes and businesses in the rural communities of White Gate, Staffordsville, Poplar Hill, Sugar Run, Wilburn Valley, and Walker Creek.

By expanding broadband access, the project also strengthens the New River Valley by supporting regional growth, innovation, and economic resilience. Get connected to Virginia’s New River Valley here.
