Garrott, Betty Clark
Elizabeth (Betty) Clark Garrott passed peacefully at home on October 15, Born in Buffalo, NY in 1932 to Anna and William Clark, beloved by her husband of 51 years George B. Garrott.
She is also survived by a stepson George B. Garrott, Jr. (Bart) and his wife Susan, of Apex, NC. Betty was predeceased by older siblings, Virgina Webb, Dorothy Dickens, and one brother William Clark. She is survived by two nieces, Robin Clark-Long of Redlands California and Lois Richardson of Vancouver, BC Canada, and a nephew Edwin Webb of Gunta Gorda, FI. Betty is also lovingly remembered by George’s nieces Diane Fishback, Karen Koonce and nephew Michael Wardman.
When she was two years old Betty was sent by her estranged parents to Dearborn, MI where she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Martha and George Igrisan.
Following one year at Eastern Michigan University she moved to the Washington DC area to be near her sister Dorothy. Betty was employed for 30 years by the Ford Motor Corporation. She held several responsible positions in the Ford Motor Corporation’s Washington District office, and the first female to do so. She was recognized by foreign embassy staff and senior U.S. government and congressional staff as a person to go to for assistance in dealing with the Ford Motor Corporation.
Betty loved her winter skiing vacations with George throughout the western United States and their summer vacations at the Outer Banks of N.C. George is especially grateful to Good Samaritan Hospice and Senior Home Care, Inc. for the kind, compassionate and professional care they provided her during the last several months.
A memorial Service for Betty is planned for November 16, 2:00 PM at the Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, 2300 North Main St. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be directed to Mercy Ships, Garden Valley, TX or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
