Robert Lane Gallimore, formerly of Eggleston, VA was a man whose love for music and life’s simple joys touched the hearts of many, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024, in Max Meadows, Virginia. He was born on December 19, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, and grew up with a spirit that was as endearing as it was enduring.
Robert was a man of many passions, but none so great as his love for music. He found solace and joy in playing his guitar and singing. His renditions of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” could often be heard at gatherings, leaving smiles on the faces of friends and family. His music will resonate within the hearts of those who knew him, a melody of memories that will play on. Robert’s upbeat demeanor never waned. He lived his life with a loving heart, a quality that was evident to all who knew him. His frequent visits to McDonald’s were more than just a meal; they were an opportunity for him to share his warmth and kindness with those around him.
The bonds Robert forged with his special friends, Kenny and Tessa Spencer and their family, Becky and Mark Middleton and family, and Cristin and Keith Nelson with their children, Xander Nelson, Carri Buckley Nelson, and Dorian Nelson, were as strong as family ties. These relationships were a source of immense joy and support for Robert, and he cherished each moment spent with them. He was a beloved figure within his community and was affectionately considered family by many.
His brother, Dale Gallimore, will fondly remember Robert for his loving nature and the laughter they shared. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gallimore and Sarah Edwards, and his siblings, Kenny Gallimore, Eddie Gallimore, and Lynda Davis. The memories they created together will continue to be celebrated and honored by those who knew and loved Robert.
