Floyd Rotary Hosts Annual Chili Cookoff
The Floyd Rotary Club invites the public to join the annual Floyd Rotary Chili Cookoff on Saturday, October 18, at Citizens Coop, located at 220 Webbs Mill Road in Floyd. Chili tasting starts at 5pm and the judging is at 6pm with the winners announced shortly afterward.
This year’s friendly fundraiser will benefit Floyd County EMS, Floyd Volunteer Fire Department, and, for the first time, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, which joins as both a new competitor and beneficiary. The Sheriff’s Department’s addition makes this year’s cookoff a spirited three-way competition among Floyd County’s first responder teams.
The cookoff will take place as part of Citizens Co-op’s Free Community Concert, featuring live music by Jerry Wimmer and Bottom of the Barrel, along with axe throwing, food trucks, and more family-friendly fun.
Guests can sample chili from all three competing departments for free. The public is encouraged to purchase $1 voting tickets to help determine the People’s Choice Award, with all ticket proceeds going to the winning organization. A separate panel of judges will decide the Judges’ Award.
Donations are encouraged, and 100% of donations and sponsorships will directly benefit all three organizations.
“This event is a fun and flavorful way to support our first responder heroes,” said Kelly Weeks, the Floyd Rotary Club’s President. “Every dollar raised goes right back to the local departments that keep our community safe.”
Please note that this is a cookoff between the three organizations only and not open to outside participants.
Come out for an evening of chili, music, and community spirit while supporting Floyd County’s first responder heroes!
