Flood Watch Issued for Blue Ridge counties

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Flood Watch for those counties along the crest of the Blue Ridge form Floyd County southwest to Watauga County, including the areas downstream in Patrick, Surry, and Wilkes Counties.

From Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon prolonged heavy rainfall totaling three to four inches may lead to flooding of small streams and creeks and small rivers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
