FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR MONTGOMERY AND WEST CENTRAL ROANOKE COUNTIES…
At 332 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

possible.
* WHERE…Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas,
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin.
Portions of Virginia, including the following areas, Bland,
Carroll, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery,
Patrick, Pulaski, Roanoke, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe. Portions of
southeast West Virginia, including the following area, Mercer.
* WHEN…Until 2 AM EDT Sunday.
* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks,
streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and
streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor
drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Slow moving front and an upper disturbance will keep showers
and a few thunderstorms around through this evening, some
with heavy rain.
