Energy Check to Partner with Pearl Certification
Blacksburg contractor Energy Check has been performing energy audits and completing efficiency focused home improvements in the NRV for over 10 years. They have now been selected to partner with Pearl Certification, a national firm that provides independent certification of home features that make it healthy, comfortable, safe and energy efficient.
The Energy Check process, which begins with an energy focused home inspection, has always verified their improvement work with post project testing. But, as stated by their community educator, Kimberley Boyer, “we know this partnership will give our clients peace of mind that the work we complete is certified by an independent third party”.
Pearl also partners with leading national names in energy efficiency, real estate, and contracting industries:, such as DOE, EPA, ENERGY STAR®, the National Association of REALTORS, and the Appraisal Institute. They have worked with these entities, along with real estate and contracting professionals, resulting in Pearl Certified homes commanding a 5% (average) increase in home value when a home is sold.
Pearl’s certifications provide buyers with information about the home’s high-performing features, such as insulation, high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, ENERGY STAR® appliances, and smart devices. It is a natural fit for the work Energy Check is doing and they have plans to certify all of their work through the program.
Energy Check’s lead energy auditor and BPI certified building analyst, Chris Nicholson is excited about the value add of the relationship for their clients, “we are proud to be part of an elite network of contractors selected to participate in Pearl and whether you are planning to sell your home or not, it helps us quantify the value of our work beyond the obvious comfort improvement and reduction of operating costs”.
In addition, Chris is very proud to have certified the first Platinum Home in the NRV, with Energy Check completing the work for this elite classification. The local availability of this program will be a valuable asset to homeowners who have prioritized these types of performance improvements and want to see them recognized as an important part of the assessment of their home’s market value.
