Elliott, Linda Linkous

Elliott, Linda LinkousLinda Louise Elliott, age 92, of Blacksburg, Virginia, joined her loved ones in heaven on October 10, 2024. Linda was a strong, extraordinary woman who fought for 49 days after a stroke before God took her home to rest.

Linda loved flowers and sitting on the porch with her girlfriends and cats, listening to music and collecting just about anything she could she loved to dance and cheer to her beloved Hokies. But most of all she loved her family who has many wonderful memories of Sunday dinners and her teaching her children Sammy and Donna to flatfoot. Memories of grandchildren sitting on her lap while she sang “Jesus Loves Me” to them, she was an example of what it means to never stop being a mother and the backbone of her family.

Linda was known as Maw Maw to many other children in her community they all knew where to get a meal or cold drink on hot summer day. Linda was adored by everybody that knew her and will be greatly missed here on Earth. After working at tech for almost 40 years at Tech, she retired and soon went back to work at Custom Catering for Noah Shanks and Charlotte Linkous who she became close friends with. She loved cooking in the kitchen until she was 87 years old. We have also heard stories of her working at The Hokie House in her younger days. She once told the doctors she would live to be a hundred years old, and she sure gave it a good run.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul E. Elliott; her loving companion of 32 years; William F. Shaver; brothers, Robert and Donald Linkous; sisters, Adele Garigliano, Mary F. Linkous, Janet Simpkins; sons, Paul J. Elliott, David W Elliott, Samuel D Elliott; parents, McKinley and Catherine Linkous.

Sawyer; granddaughters, Crystal and Ashley Elliott, Katie Elliott and Amanda Bain; grandsons, Jeremy Elliott (Megan), David Elliott, James Elliott (Sarah Catherine), Joseph Dalton; great-grandkids, Brittany and Sarah Bain, Anna Marie Huff, Owen Linkous, Riley Baldwin, Kayson Duncan, Karter Zicafoose, Ezra Wyatt, Maleenia, Hannah, and Braden Elliott; great-great-grandchildren, Christopher J. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the ICU at Lewis Gale Montgomery for their exemplary care and Nicole Thompson for all her love and support Rhonda with case management and hospice. We could not have asked for better care and love she received in the 49 days she was there. As well as the amazing support the family received. Special caretakers and friends, Amanda and Brittany Bain, Rodonna Elliott, Betty Elliott, Bertha Arrington, and Irma Carter.
