Drug Roundup in Montgomery & Floyd Counties

On Feb. 27, 2018, Montgomery County Circuit Court held a multi-jurisdictional grand jury. The New River Regional Drug Task Force presented 93 narcotic Indictments against 57 people.

The indictments included charges such as distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, sale of a firearm to a (known) convicted felon, possession of LSD, distribution of a controlled substance (prescription medications), manufacture of marijuana, and distribution of marijuana.

These narcotic investigations were conducted in Floyd and Montgomery counties, and the charges stem from long-term drug investigations involving multiple individuals. The mission of the New River Regional Drug Task Force is to target and investigate mid- to upper-level narcotic individuals/organizations.

On March 5, t2018, the New River Regional Drug Task Force, along with the Christiansburg Police Department, the Blacksburg
Police Department, the Virginia Tech Police Department and Virginia State Police began the mass-arrest operation. The task force arrested 37 individuals and are working to locate another 20 individuals who have outstanding warrants.
