Davis, Franklin R.
Franklin R. Davis, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025. He was born June 27, 1937 and was a lifelong resident of the Little Creek Section of Bland County, Virginia. Franklin became an avid farmer after his retirement from Magnox Pulaski, a manufacturing facility located in Pulaski, Virginia. He farmed his land with dedication and pride and was often found in the back of his property at his sawmill.
Franklin proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany until his discharge in 1966. His time in the military reflected his strong sense of duty. In his free time, he enjoyed attending Fiddlers Conventions and crafting one-of-a-kind guitars. He was well known in the Bluegrass community and his talent playing guitar won him multiple awards at music festivals. He also enjoyed a frequent burger at “Tom’s drive-in”, where he was well known by both staff and patrons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude S. Davis and Gladys D. Davis, sisters, Lois Wichael, Alleta Bowman, Lorine Matz, Edith Wright, and brother, Gerald Davis.
He is survived by his sister Marie Lambert of Pulaski, Va, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by close friends, Connie Blankenship, Kelly Blankenship, Terry Davis, Mike & Martha Lineberry as well as his beloved cat Nosey.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength and integrity. Franklin leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work and he will be greatly missed by his friends, family and community.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM – Monday, January 5, 2026 at the Goshen Cemetery (Spur Branch Road- Bland County) with pastor Linda Hale officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Goshen Cemetery Fund.
