Congressman Griffith Statement on Dobbs Ruling
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization:
“Roe v. Wade was a constitutional error that has produced decades of tragedy. The Supreme Court got the law right today in Dobbs. The Court has returned to the individual states the ability to make their own decisions on this issue. Our task going forward from this decision is to carry on the hard but rewarding work of building a culture that protects, respects, and cherishes life.”

How is it okay that any body of government (ours) gets to dictate what we can and can’t do with our bodies. Morgan, If YOU did any ACTUAL research, you’d know that Roe vs Wade did not increase abortion rates. It did decrease illegal abortions and death caused by those illegal abortions, though.
Although, I have chosen to carry my pregnancies and care for what I created (even with one deadbeat running around with no consequences ever for his part or his highly religious and Republican family), that does not give me the right to judge others. Judging is not MY “right”. It is not state nor federal “right”. What Roe vs Wade, also, did was protect the privacy and rights of all American women on a national scale. Now, we are to leave this decision up to our states? Every state will differ, as those that are run by Republicans will be FORCED to follow their BELIEFS. This shows there is no seperation of state (as the laws are being created based on religion and nothing more) and church. Is that Constitutional?
We are losing our rights to privacy, more and more every day. This country is in a sad state.
I would LOVE to read an article that is filled with all the things that you’ve successfully accomplished since representing the 9th district.
One of the only reasons that Morgan remains in office is because no one has ran against him and THAT needs to change!
Side note: If Morgan was so concerned about babies–why did he vote against the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act???

I knew you would vote the way you did, Morgan, so am not surprised. But, how I wish you would understand that this is a decision to be made by the individual and NOT the government.
I wonder how you would respond if your daughter, granddaughter, or niece was raped. Raping is truly horrific, and I believe our nation should consider and respond to such challenging, difficult situations for our citizens. We are a nation “of THE PEOPLE, for THE PEOPLE, and by THE PEOPLE”. Our women should be able to make their own decisions.
As a Christian, I understand the concern of many of my fellow Christians, but we are called to LOVE, and caring about sooo many women who are often unwillingly raped.
Abortions should be allowed. If , unfortunately, someone would happen to rape your daughter or granddaughter and impregnant them, how would you react?
I am sorry that you do not agree. And am more sorry for the women in our nation who will continue to be abused. This is a NATIONAL issue, not a state issue. We are a country “of the people, by the people, and FOR the people.”
HOW LONG, O LORD, HOW LONG?

Rich people will still get abortions. Abortions aren’t going away for them. Incest will still happen and little girls forced to have babies. Rape will still happen. This was an anti-women and anti lower class women decision. Wearing a mask to try to mitigate a deadly virus in public was “my body my choice.” A woman can’t make my body my choice decisions obviously. Griffith is lying as usual. Rewarding work of building a culture that protects, respects, and cherishes life? Without universal healthcare for all. Without shelter for homeless families or food for hungry people. Griffith voted No on $35 Insulin, No on halting the oil and gas industry price gouging, No on mitigating the baby formula shortage and No on increasing healthcare for Veterans. So much for cherishing life. The platitudes ring hollow when his actions are the exact opposite.
