Collins, A. J.
A.J. Collins, 70, passed away Tuesday, September 24th, in his son’s home in Mooresville, NC. A.J. was a lifelong Christiansburg resident. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Velma Collins.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Adam and Katie Collins of Mooresville, NC, and Matt and Kathy Collins of Richmond, CA; grandchildren, Porter, Louisa, Kian, and Nellie; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Ken Soper of Richmond, VA; an aunt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A.J. will be remembered for his love of baseball (especially if his sons or grandchildren were playing), Virginia Tech basketball, canoeing, being outdoors, and his ongoing feud with cleaning up after the backyard sugar maple tree.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Andy Schuster of Lighthouse Church in Mooresville, NC. The family also invites friends to gather at the Christiansburg Fire Department for lunch immediately following the service.

So sorry to hear this news. We grew up play and hanging out on Yellow Sulphur Road. He was a good friend
