Clark, Phyllis Letchford

Clark, Phyllis LetchfordWe are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Phyllis Christine Letchford Clark, a beloved figure in our community, who left this world on November 2, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on January 4, 1958, in Roanoke, Virginia, Phyllis’s life was a testament to the love and care she bestowed upon her family and the natural world she cherished.

Phyllis spent her final days in her home of Narrows, Virginia, surrounded by the landscapes she had always adored. Her life was rich with the joy of family; she was a devoted mother to her son, David Clark Jr. (Ashley), and daughters, Bonnie Clark and Amy Clark. Phyllis’s legacy continues through her grandchildren, Raymond Kast, Austin Clark, and Holly Clark, as well as her great-grandchildren, Olivia Kast and Arabella Kast. She shared an unbreakable bond with her brother, Russell Letchford (Gloria), and sister, Barbara Johnson, alongside several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will all miss her deeply.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Sam Letchford Sr. and Cora Gordon Letchford; her loving husband, David Allen Clark Sr.; her dear son, Scottie Letchford; and her siblings, Bobby Letchford, Sam Letchford Jr., Shirley Letchford, Katherine Letchford, Betty Brown, Gayneill Anderson, and Carolyn Lavinder. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she carried their memories with her every day.

Professionally, Phyllis was known for her unwavering work ethic, which she demonstrated through her years of dedicated service at Turner Dairy as a skilled milker. Phyllis’s interests were a reflection of her love for life’s simple pleasures. She found peace and contentment in gardening, canning, and tending to her flower beds. The arrival of spring brought her immense joy, as it signaled a time of renewal and growth for her beloved plants and the wildlife she adored. Butterflies and hummingbirds, in particular, captivated her, and she could often be found watching them flit and flutter in her garden.

A passionate angler, Phyllis spent countless hours by the water, indulging in the tranquility of fishing. These quiet moments in nature provided her with a sense of solace and connection to the world around her. Her gentle spirit and appreciation for all living things were evident to all who knew her.
