Cirque du Floyd Returing in August

Chantilly Farm will present the Second Annual Cirque du Floyd on August 17-18, an outdoor event concept that is designed to appeal to both the young and young-at-heart.

One ticket gets attendees into both days of programming at the event. Friday’s festivities will run from 4pm until midnight and Saturday’s festivities will run from noon until midnight.

Major highlights of the two-day event will be a Friday evening performance from Asheville, NC based Clan Destiny Circus and a Saturday evening performance from Imaginaerial, an internationally acclaimed acrobatic cirque troupe based in New York City. Both groups feature a dynamic style of storytelling through distinctive acrobatics in the air and on the ground, making them some of the most sought after performers in their field.

“We’re ecstatic to be able to bring national-level talent like Imaginaerial and Clan Destiny Circus to Floyd, while giving some of the more unique performance artists in our region the opportunity to showcase their talents locally,” said Ashley Morales, one of the event’s lead organizers. “When you blend that with incredible live music, great food and drink, great vendors and the scenic beauty of Chantilly Farm, we think it’s a show that will appeal to an increasingly wide variety of our people in our community.”

Live music will take place on the main stage to close out each evening. This year’s featured musical performers are The Get Right Band and Music Road Company. Flirting with Chemicals will also make an appearance on Friday evening.

In addition to the weekend’s spectacular aerial cirque performances, attendees will enjoy a captivating presentation from Dance Afire Productions on Saturday, magic from Nelson Oliver, stilt-walking from Miss Kitty’s Society of Wayward Cosmonauts, free family circus arts workshops, aerial storytelling from StoryUp, juggling by Erin Riley, and mesmerizing performances from Gartrell the Great, Cheeky Monkey Sideshow, Mountain Circus Arts and Imagine Circus.

Roaming performers, also known as ‘buskers’, will perform throughout the event interacting with cirque-goers. Local food vendors will be available along with a stage-side beer and wine garden.

All advance ticket buyers have the opportunity to primitive tent camp for free on Friday and Saturday night. RV camping will also be available at regular campground rates, however RV camping must be booked in advance by calling (540)808-4984.
