Christiansburg Receives Grant for Concerts
The Town of Christiansburg Parks and Recreation received a $1,250 grant for its Rockin’ Main Street Concert Series. The Town will partner with local groups to supply $625 in matching funds for the project. Each spring and fall the Town of Christiansburg invites the community to come out and celebrate food and music in downtown Christiansburg! The Rockin’ Main Street Concert events feature live performances by a variety of bands and local food and drink vendors.
Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) awarded more than $2.7 million for 259 local and regional tourism marketing programs across the state to help increase visitation and revenue for Virginia’s localities through tourism.
“We are so excited to be selected for this grant that will help in our efforts to bring community members to downtown events. Events like our Rockin’ Main Concert Series provide a connective and fun atmosphere that our residents, businesses and visitors alike can enjoy. This is another steppingstone for the Town of Christiansburg as we continue to emphasize our town as a vibrant and progressive place to live, work and play,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brad Epperley.
Regional representatives are also recognizing Christiansburg for its efforts to bring residents together.
“What a way to help kick off National Travel & Tourism Week! It is yet further proof of Christiansburg’s role in helping to make our community a regional and statewide destination,” remarked David Rotenizer, executive director for the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Montgomery County Regional Tourism Program.
“These grant funds provide an important opportunity for communities across the Commonwealth to accelerate recovery efforts and continue with their best-in-class marketing initiatives to attract new travelers,” said Rita McClenny, president and CEO of Virginia Tourism.
“Increased visitation translates directly into revenue generation, underscoring tourism’s important role in stimulating economic growth and expansion”
