Christiansburg Police, ATF make swift arrest
Toney Lanham

On Sept. 5 at approximately 7:22 a.m. Christiansburg Police responded to a call for service in regard to a burglary at a business on the 1600 block of North Franklin St. Upon arrival, police found a break-in had taken place and five guns had been stolen from the business.

Christiansburg Police immediately began investigating and notified the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). Together, both agencies were able to track down the suspect within just 7 hours of the call.

Toney Lee Lanham Jr. was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, wearing a mask to conceal identity during a crime, and felony vandalism. Lanham has since been released on bond. All weapons were recovered.

The Christiansburg Police Department would like to thank the ATF for its partnership in helping solve this case quickly and efficiently. We would also like to thank the numerous citizens and loss prevention employees who helped in tracking leads which ultimately led to suspect’s arrest.
