Carter, Roberta Ann
Elder Roberta Ann “Sissie” Carter was born on October 6, 1952, in Pulaski, Virginia. Roberta went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Radford, Virginia.
She was a devoted servant of the Lord and loved her family and community dearly, running the T.G. Howard Summer Feeding Program for children and teens for several years. For many years, she preached and taught His Word as a pastor, evangelist, and, for a short time, hospital chaplain. She graduated from Pulaski High School and earned an Associate Degree from New River Community College. In addition, she worked as an early childhood educator and school bus driver and loved working with the youngest children, especially her class she called, “The Terrific Twos.” She worked locally for New River Community Action Head Start in Pulaski, Old McDonald’s Child Care in Dublin, The Rock Child Care Center in Radford, and the YMCA Child Care Center in Pulaski. She could always be counted on to offer prayers and her presence to provide comfort to family and friends. Her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were special sources of joy for her, and she loved being a part of their lives, watching them grow up, sharing life lessons and wisdom from the Word of God with them always.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen “Tot” Carter; two sisters, Helen and Amy Carter; and two brothers, Bobby and Joe Carter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Dr. Lateffa (Kevin) Robinson, Gambrills, Maryland; grandchildren: Kaleigh (Melvin) Jackson, Stonebridge, Georgia; Imani King, Pulaski, Virginia; Jadyn King, Radford, Virginia; and Joshua King, Rota, Spain; great-grandchildren: Javon Feaster and Alexander Hoyt; two sisters, Mary Jane and Cynthia Carter, Pulaski; two brothers, Michael (Celia), Christiansburg, Virginia, and ED Carter, Pulaski, Virginia ; her uncle, our beloved Elder Golden Carter, Axton, Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
