Cady, Phillip Lee

Phillip Lee Cady, June 9, 1957-October 20, 2018 of Albert Meredith Lane, Newport, lost his 2-year battle with cancer which he fought until the end with courage, determination, and humor.

Phil is predeceased by his Father, David C. Cady, infant sister, Nona Jean Cady, maternal grandparents Ivan and Mary Brown and paternal grandparents Leonard and Alma Cady grandparents. Surviving are his beloved wife and soul mate of 41 years, Pamela (Blevins) Cady, his Mother Barbara Cady, Brother David (Chris) Cady Jr; Sisters Charlene Perron, Rosanna Cady, and Brenda Nowak. Also, to cherish his memory are an uncle, Jim “Brother” Brown with whom he had a very special and unique bond as well and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Left to remember, cherish, and laugh at 41 years of memories are his much-loved in-law family. Mother and Father-in-law Dorothy and Billy Williams; Sisters-in-law Lisa (Russ) Shelton, Sharon (Steve) Wilson, and Dawn (Reggie) Britts; Brother-in-law Timothy (Beth) Williams;Nephews Corey (Andi) Lowe, Codey Williams, and Jacoby Wilson, Justin (Keree) Britts and Taylor (Miranda) Britts; nieces Von (Sarah) Shelton, Niki (Brandon) Kaminski, Brittany Gilmer (Derrick), Brooke Williams; great-nephews Chance Gilmer and Zion Britts; great-niece Aurora Kaminski. He also leaves behind numerous friends, some he thought of as family who were generous and helpful in so many ways. A very special employee and friend, Brandon Harvey (Selena) who he thought of as the son he didn’t have, and his faithful companions Penny and Tobey (his dogs).

Most people knew Phil because of his woodworking and construction abilities which came so naturally to him and his love of flowered and colorful caps. For Phil, business was never just work but fun and pleasure. He thought of each customer as a treasure. He rarely met a stranger and always tried to give more than he received. Phil’s wish was for whole body donation for cancer research so he could continue to give to others.

The family is very grateful to Dr. Robert Rotche and all of the nurses and staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care. A special thanks to Carilion Hospice Care nurses Tryphena and Nicole and their entire staff who were always patient, caring, skilled, and invaluable. Also, thanks to all of the friends and family who have helped us in so many ways during Phil’s illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pembroke, Virginia at 6:00 pm. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to your favorite charity.
