Blacksburg Spring Cleanup Continues

The high wind events and late-season snow resulted in an unusually large volume of brush to be collected during the town’s annual Spring Cleanup. For this reason, this year’s collection service has experienced significant delays.

Public Works crews will finish brush collection in the Northwest quadrant today, Monday, April 30 and expect to finish household waste cleanup in the Northwest quadrant by Friday, May 4. As previously advertised, crews will return to the Southwest and Southeast quadrants to pick up brush that was put out as a result of the snow event on March 24.

The extra brush collection in these quadrants will begin directly following the completion in the Northwest.

Residents are encouraged not to continue to put brush out at the curb as this will require a special pickup service.

For special pickups, there is a $65 prepaid charge per dump truck load. Pickups are every Friday excluding holidays. The $65 has to be prepaid by the Wednesday of the week you would like the pickup. Payments can be made over the phone at 540-443-1060 using a Visa or MasterCard or in person at the cashier’s window on the second floor of the Municipal Building at 300 S. Main St.
