Douglas Carlyle Barnett of Christiansburg, VA passed to his heavenly home on Saturday May 1, 2021 at the age of 74.

He was a member of Prices Fork United Methodist Church and enjoyed a lifelong occupation as a Master Electrician. He had a beautiful tenor singing voice, and during his college years was a member of the all male Virginia Tech Varsity Glee Club which at one time hosted a concert for then President Lyndon Johnson. His passion however, was being a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His favorite hobby was tinkering with old lawn mowers, and was considered the neighborhood fix-it man for anyone in need.

Douglas is predeceased by his parents Edward and Velva Barnett of Prices Fork, VA; grandson, Taylor Douglas Shelton; great-grandson, Jordan Custer; brother-in-law, Charles Lee. Douglas is survived by his wife of 52 years Sally L. Barnett; four beautiful daughters, Christina Toney (Rickie), Patricia Painter (Brandy), Virginia Stanley (Fred), Sara Shelton (Paul); three sisters, Brenda Rowland (Bernard), Lois Walters and Norma Guynn; brother-in-law, John Earl Lee (Alice); sister-in-law, Judy Henderson (Wayne). Doug and Sally have also been blessed with 12 surviving grandchildren, 17 surviving great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Intrepid Hospice for their amazing group of nurses and CNAs for their time, services and care.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chandler Jones and Pastor Mike Hill officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the James Bane Price Cemetery, Prices Fork. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption, 480 Cinnabar Rd, Christiansburg, VA 24073 or to the Prices Fork United Methodist Church, ℅ George Sullivan, 3365 McCoy Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060..
