Bane, Jr., Howard Evans

Bane, Jr., Howard Evans 4Howard (Buddy) Evans Bane, Jr., 81, of Christiansburg, VA went home to be with Jesus, His Lord and Savior, on Saturday May 27, 2023. Buddy loved and served Jesus and had a great desire for others to know Him. With the Lord’s help, his purpose in life was to “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:10-13 NIV

He was a man who exemplified loving Christian duty, serving others. He was a devoted husband to his wife Coleen of 61 years, the flower he found on a Blue Ridge Parkway picnic when he was 14. Father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and employer, he
was known for his easy-going manner and ability to befriend all kinds of people. He enjoyed his work and the good that came out of it, happily going out in his truck nights and weekends in all weather serving his customers.

He will be greatly missed, however, we do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13), for we know that we will see him again in heaven, because of the hope we have in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

He is survived by Coleen, son Trey Bane and wife Sherry of Macon, GA, daughter, Connie Walters and husband Eric of Charlotte, NC, granddaughter, Rachel Davenport and husband John of Fredericksburg, VA, grandson, Nathan Walters, of Charlotte, NC, and great-granddaughter, Audrey Davenport, of Fredericksburg, VA, as well as his loyal employees and friends at Bane Oil Company: Alan Graybill, Doug Goad, Don Knautz, Andy Schack, and Chris Hale. Buddy was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Nixon, and parents Howard and Mary Bane. He is also survived by his nephew Sam Nixon and family, and niece Rebecca Nixon Collins and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Life Baptist Church, 1640 Peppers Ferry Rd., Christiansburg, VA on Saturday, June 3 with visitation at 11:00 a.m., and service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. In honor of Buddy’s love for life and colors, please wear your favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, a monetary remembrance may be given to Grace Life Baptist Church, PO Box 701, Christiansburg, VA 24068.
