Attempted robbery leads to shootings
WSLS-10-The Giles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting overnight in Narrows that killed one man and left another critically wounded. Dakota Rayan Bailey, 20, was killed, and 47-year-old David Joseph Cecil was flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for gunshot injuries.
The incident reportedly started as an attempted armed robbery at a house in the 300 block of Stockpen Mountain Road.
Warrants have been taken out on the following people. Each is charged with breaking and entering and attempted armed robbery:
- David Joseph Cecil, 47, of Narrows
- Tyler Lee Foster, 18, of Narrows
- Darren Justin Cecil, 18, of Narrows
- Blade Donovan Powers, 19, of Wytheville
Warrants were obtained on these two for conspiracy to commit breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit armed robbery:
- Megan Kaylee Shaver, 18, of Lynchburg
- Lindsey Paige Robertson, 20, of Pearisburg
Anthony Dewaye Gautier, 31, of Narrows, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Authorities say Gautier lived at the home on Stockpen Mountain Road.
All those wanted have been taken into custody, with the exception of David Cecil, who remains hospitalized for serious injuries. Tyler Foster was also determined to have suffered minor injuries, stemming from the incident, upon his arrest.
