Archer, William Stephen
William Stephen Archer, a man of deep faith and loving spirit, departed this life on September 17, 2024, in Narrows, Virginia entering into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his eternal home. Born on February 23, 1963, in Marion, Virginia, to Dorothy “Sandy” Stephenson Archer and the late Robert Eugene Eller.
William lived a life characterized by devotion to his loved ones and an unwavering commitment to his beliefs.
William’s early years in Marion laid the foundation for a lifelong love of sports. A talented baseball player, he excelled as a catcher, a position that showcased his leadership and resilience. His passion for sports continued throughout his life, and he remained a die-hard fan of the LA Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys. His competitive spirit found a playful outlet in the family’s fantasy football league, where he enjoyed friendly rivalry and camaraderie.
As a dedicated family man, William cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Daniele Smith Archer, and their two sons, Josh Archer (Robin) and Tyler Archer (Laura). William’s legacy lives on in his grandchildren, Aaron, Jayden, Kaylyn, Landen, Julianna, Luka, Jayson, Mayson, and Tyler Jr., who will miss their grandfather’s guidance and warmth. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Archer, and sister, Sherry Archer (Kenny Blankenship), as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him for his generous heart and steadfast presence in their lives.
William’s professional journey was marked by his tenure at Radford Arsenal, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His colleagues respected him for his integrity and team-oriented attitude, which made him a valued member of the production team.
In October 2009, William experienced a profound renewal of faith, returning to his roots and dedicating his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This decision marked a turning point in his life, and he began to channel his energy into spiritual growth and service. Until his illness, he was an active member of Lifeline Church in Princeton, West Virginia, where he found a community of like-minded believers. An avid Biblical scholar, William devoted himself to studying the scriptures every day, seeking to deepen his understanding and live out his faith. His knowledge of the Bible was extensive, and he enjoyed discussing and sharing his insights with others.
Those who knew William best will remember him as a faith-filled man who faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. His kindness and sincerity touched the lives of many, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.
