APCo Storm Damage Update
As of 9:30 a.m., we have a workforce of 3,500 strong who are continuing to assess and repair damage after Hurricane Helene. We’ve restored power to 40%, or 112,000, of customers since the peak of 282,000 on Friday.
With 30% of assessment completed, we have found over 1,260 spans of fallen wire and damaged equipment, including 300 poles, 200 crossarms and 80 transformers. Damage was widespread, with more than 2,200 unique outage cases reported between WV, VA and TN.
We are continuing assessment today while navigating challenging terrain. Weather is favorable for restoring electric service, although downed trees and flooded areas may impact restoration efforts. Assessing damage following a storm is critical to prioritizing your safety by first identifying hazards, including downed trees, destructed electrical equipment and fallen wire.

Please know that we’re working as quickly and safely as we can to get your power back on. Our community is stronger together, and we’re glad to be part of yours.
